- What will be the biggest technical or organisational challenge the engineering team will face in the next year?
- How will this role help with that
- Architecture changes?
- How do they prioritise product work vs technical work? (reduce complexity, tech debt)
- What's their view on coding with AI at scale with the team?
Staff:
- Typical week look like?
- How do they prioritise work?
- How are major technical decisions made?
- Who owns them?
Senior:
- How do you approach knowledge sharing?
- within the team, with external teams
- How do you maintain technical quality as the product evolves?
- how do they prioritise tech debt
Software eng / generic
- What surprised you the most soon after you joined?
- What does the company do to help engineers do their best work?
- What tends to distinguish very successful engineers at a great company?
- If you could improve one thing in engineering, what would it be?
